With a passion for cycling and a top level qualification in Cycle Mechanics, Jon is the ‘go-to’ person for bicycle repair and maintenance.

Originally a JNC Qualified Youth Worker with a background in managing Youth Services, Jon is keen to see children and young people access life changing opportunities alongside learning the essentials of good cycle maintenance and safe riding.

As a qualified Bikeablility Instructor, Jon enjoys providing opportunities for the community to learn to ride and use active travel.

In his spare time, he can be found tinkering with vintage bicycles or playing the piano!

Sarah started working in capacity building of the Community and Voluntary Sector 25 years ago. As a young person she volunteered for the Citizens Advice which led her to discover an elaborate network of community groups in her home town.

Fascinated and inspired by people giving their time for free, to create positive change in society and for the planet, she spent the next 25 years in roles which have supported the sector to develop. She is a skilled and passionate advocate of good governance, community development and volunteer management.

She has been a PQASSO Mentor. Has experience of running a social enterprise delivering infrastructure support services as well as developing services and projects as a charity manager. Her first trustee role was for a grassroots volunteer-led environmental charity, in 2000.

Her last trustee role, she spent 6 years ending in 2019, on the board of Scotland’s largest grant making charity, which distributed £20 million of grants a year.

I graduated from Newman University, Birmingham, with a Masters in Youth and Community Work. As a qualified JNC worker in an inner-city school In Birmingham I supported children and young people to engage with a wealth of initiatives to inspire and aid their ongoing development.

I fundraised annually with them, to sail on the tall ships of Brixham. ‘Leader’, a Brixham Trawler, which allowed young people to redefine their horizons and see the world. This brought me to the South West. The love of the sea!

I am privileged to be a Director at Cycle Torbay C.I.C and am proud to support the community to be active together and encourage children to get out on their bikes, riding safely.

I graduated from the University of Brighton in 2012 with a BSc in Environmental Science and went on to work for various community development charities across Devon and Torbay, applying asset-based approaches to support communities to build resilience and achieve their goals. For the last few years, I have been working as a Commissioning Officer for Devon County Councils Public Health Team.

Supporting Cycle Torbay allows me to combine a passion for Community Development with promoting sustainability.
